U-Knight takes place every first Saturday of the month, from 6pm to 9pm in the lower hall. It is intended for anyone of secondary-school age and over. Lots of students come along and a few older adults too.

The main idea is for us to have fun playing board games and card games together. Among the board games we have been enjoying recently are Risk, Catan, Game of Life, Atlantis, Labyrinth, Cluedo, Scrabble and yes, even chess. Our favourite card game at the moment seems to be Uno, although there is a suspicion that someone is making up the rules as they go along. But it doesn’t matter what the rules are, who wins or who loses. The important thing is that we all get together and have a laugh.

There’s always food too, of course. Most people seem to like pizza, so there’s always one on the serving counter and another in the oven waiting to come out. Then there’s usually a fair supply of sandwiches, crisps, the odd slice of cake … all washed down with lashings of … fizzy pop. It’s a games night not a health farm.

We try to be an open and cringe-free group. Everyone is welcome and the tone is always light.

Come and try it.
