Last week I shared that our landlord has decided to sell the house that has been my home for the past 7 and a half years. Having just settled in as a newly ‘blended family,’ I have been describing this news as feeling a little like the rug being pulled from beneath our feet!

When the rug is pulled, it can cause us to stumble and feel unstable but the truth is that underneath the rug is usually a very secure and stable floor!

That is what I realised as I contemplated our situation before God this week. No matter how fast that rug is pulled or how unstable life may feel, His love, grace and presence is right there as a strong foundation to catch us and keep us secure.

Whilst being honest and acknowledging the challenge we are facing, we have also been declaring God’s faithfulness and believing we will look back on this in a years’ time and be thanking God for His provision.

God sees the big picture and we can live with faith that He is good – that is the bottom line and the truth that stays the same beneath that moving rug.

May we be people who stand secure and strong on the foundation of the goodness of God, even when circumstances around us get a bit shaky!

“The eternal God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.” (Deut. 33:27).
