Have you ever found yourself in one of those places in life where the direction you thought you were going to take becomes blocked off?
As I travelled to the Elim International Centre in Malvern this week, I was taking one of my normal routes for this journey when I was forced into a change of route. As I drove around a bend, I had to stop and turn around because the road ahead of me was completely flooded and impassable!
There were no signs to warn me of this blockage and my options were to either carry straight on through into almost certain engine failure, or to turn around and trust my satellite navigation system to help me find the most favourable route to my destination.
This reminds me of times in my life when I’ve had to embrace a complete change to the route I thought I was taking. Circumstances that I couldn’t change meant that I have found myself having to turn around and find a different way to navigate the road of life ahead.
Thankfully the grace of God and His people are better than any Satnav and we can trust His faithfulness to lead us to our destination in Him.
May we be people who trust God with every part of our journey, even when it takes us on unexpected twists and turns that we didn’t expect or desire.
“… I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” (Phil 1:6).
