Recalibration is Key

Blog by Joel Maylor-Pridmore

Following on from last week’s blog about my guitar tuner troubles, I was reflecting along a similar line having heard my wife use the wonderful word ‘recalibrate’ recently.

The context for Louise was because she had purchased some new keys that were not working and she suggested to the shop keeper that he might need to re-calibrate his key cutting machine.

Calibration is vital for any precision tool… if the user does not ensure the standard is set correctly, then the tool will not function.

I was contemplating again how the truth of God’s word – as revealed to us in the Bible and in the person of Jesus – is the standard to which we want to set our lives. The scripture God has given us in the Bible is the key place we need to look in order to make sure we are well calibrated!

Maybe it’s time for some of us to recalibrate… to spend time asking God to speak to us and studying scriptures that will help ensure we can be who He wants us to be.

May we be a people who regularly recalibrate our lives in the presence and the word of God.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
