I picked up my new glasses this week and you will clearly see they are the focus and vision behind this week’s blog!
It’s been a very long time since I had new glasses and when I put them on, I was actually rather concerned that they were not right. Everything just looked a little strange and I thought maybe the prescription or the fit would need adjustment.
A minute later though, and I realised it was me that needed to adjust – in fact – they were so much better than the glasses I had been wearing two minutes earlier, that I had to get used to the clarity and vision I now had.
It made me think about how similar it can be with our spiritual perspective when God helps us to see things His way. He gives us new lenses to look through and we can feel disorientating and make things appear unfamiliar. Eventually though, we adjust and realise how much better it is to see and do things His way!
May we truly be those whose lives, hearts and eyes echo the words of the Bethel song ‘God I look to You, give me vision to see things like You do.’
“Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes.” (2Kings 6:17).
