Last week I was ready to ‘give some lip’ the driver of a transporter lorry. He was carrying a mobile home down the A487 during rush hour (if there is such a thing in Ceredigion) and caused me nearly an hour of extra journey time.

I genuinely (to my shame) ran a scenario through my mind where he pulled over to let us pass, which would have enabled me to stop, get out of my car and give him a piece of my mind!

To cut a long story short, I did eventually stop myself getting wound up and asking God for His perspective on the situation. As soon as I managed round to this, God immediately reminded me that He loves the driver and reminded me of the famous ‘love passage’ of scripture in Romans which begins in its description of love with ‘Love is patient.’

As I continued, I had to chuckle to myself on realising that ‘Love is patient’ could be shortened to an acronym of LIP. Therefore, my earlier thought to give the driver some ‘lip’ was actually good – albeit not quite what I had in mind at the time!

Later that same day I remarkably saw another mobile home transporter on precisely the same road where I got stuck behind the one earlier! God is always ready to teach us if we’re patient enough to let Him!
