Last Saturday I went to a work outing and since there were several birthdays we ended up singing a number of “Happy Birthdays”. To my horror I realised that my voice was failing me, and I was not able to reach the notes I should… I was horrified as I was due to sing at church the following morning!
Several of my colleagues were already suffering from cold, with some even off work.
When I got home, I took a Strepsil and went to bed but In the middle of the night I awoke with a terrible sore throat. I had difficulty swallowing and my voice was croaking like a frog! Surely this was not happening to me now. It was potentially frustrating as this new opportunity to lead worship is incredibly important for me and I am grateful for the privilege.
Instead of taking another Strepsil, I prayed for healing and for trust that God would see His promise through. After a while I felt calm and above all, a sense of peace and trust flow over me. Despite my nerves about singing, I actually slept well!
The following morning I was completely healed; no sore throat, no rasping and I could sing high notes! Also my nerves were calmed as God kept His promise to me and it made me realise that I am a Child of God indeed.
John 8:36: “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
Mark: 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours”
