As you came into church this morning passed the part decorated walls, the dusty debris and the scaffolding, you would be forgiven for thinking ‘what a mess!’
In order for our building to become more aesthetically pleasing and in better functional order, we have to go through this awkward unattractive process. I promise it will look good eventually, but right now it is very much a work in progress… But then again… aren’t we all?!
You may look at certain things in your life or in the life of others and think ‘what a mess’ too but the important question is – what are we doing to make those areas more like God wants them to be?
If we just leave the outside of the building to decay further, eventually it will fall into ruin and disrepair. The same can be true for us… even if it involves a bit of debris, cost and pain, we need to intentionally work on those physical, emotional and spiritual areas in our lives that, if left untouched, could cause more problems in the future.
May we be willing to allow God to be at work in us to help us become more like Him.
““He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:6 NIV)
