On Wednesday evening, the football team my eldest son and I both support had their biggest match in a very long time. In fact, for him it was by far the biggest match since he has been a supporter.
We were unable to watch the match together as I was at our midweek worship and encounter evening, Upper Room. I, therefore, gave him my iPad and set it up ready for him to watch, whilst I spent the evening desperately avoiding any hint of it as I was recording it to watch when I got home.
The biggest challenge to this was when I had to be in the vicinity of my boy… you see, I knew that, no matter how hard he tried to conceal it, one look at his face and I would know what had happened in the match! I, therefore, deemed it necessary to make him stay in a different room… “Don’t let me see you!”
Most of us probably have people who we know so well that they needn’t even speak and we know what they are thinking. Well… our heavenly Father knows us even better than I know my son! We need not hide anything from Him though and even if we tried, He could read us as easily as a child’s picture book!
May we know how deeply and intimately God the Father knows and loves us, and that we never need to hide anything from Him.
Oh…and by the way… Liverpool made it to the final!!
