The church walk on the 17th Feb was my first time climbing Constitution Hill (or any other hill for that matter)! From the top I could see huge buildings looking so small. Cars, people… You name it, everything looked small… as if you could walk on top of them! Whilst up there, I thought: “When you’re at the top, everything looks different”.
The next morning during the Sunday Service, our guest from Hertfordshire encouraged us with Isaiah 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Painting by Joel Pridmore
I did a little research on eagles and found out that they are very strong birds that soar at high altitude. They have about 4-5 times better vision than humans, can spot a rabbit 2 miles away and see different colours than humans. Some species of eagles even take their prey up to the sky and then drop them from distance.
If we take our problems, issues, and challenges up higher to The One that “sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in” (Isaiah 40:22) then we can watch our challenges fizzle out like air let out from a balloon. As our guest that day also said, “We can have much of God as we want – it’s really up to us.”
