On Wednesday I found a book that had sat for a long time unread on my shelf and for some reason decided to begin reading it. It was a devotional by Reverend Billy Graham so I searched for February 21st and found myself reading an excellent encouragement to live a lifestyle of prayer.
Then, just a couple of hours later, a BBC News bulletin appeared on my phone.
Was this a simple coincidence? I think it would be a naïve to believe so. I can only conclude that the announcement of Reverend Graham’s passing is significant in some way that I will understand more fully in the future.
‘What a legacy’ is the phrase that came to mind… such an amazing impact he had for the Kingdom of God in so many millions of lives. Life was not perfect for him, it never is! But he loved and served the Lord faithfully with grace and integrity for more than a generation. He lived nearly 100 years… almost as long as the Elim Movement!
May we be inspired today to do our best to live in such a way as to create God-centred legacy.
‘“Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address. I will have gone into the presence of God.” Billy Graham
